MySQL is one of the most popular open source databases, and compared to some database management systems it is relatively easy to configure. However there are still a wide variety of configuration issues that need to be addressed to ensure the system is secure.
This paper will provide an outline off common attacks on MySQL and also outline the steps that can be taken to defend against these attacks.
