Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks first appeared on the internet in 2000, since then they have increased in frequency and size and become a serious threat to an organisation’s security.
During a DDoS attack thousands of botnets will flood an organisation’s servers with more requests than they can handle, preventing an organisation’s website from functioning effectively, or at all, and can have a devastating impact upon revenue and reputation.
This paper will outline the current threat landscape, explain why mitigation may not be enough and then explain what can be done to ensure that your organisation is protected against any future DDoS attacks.
