NCC Group becomes a Friend of This Can Happen to support mental wellbeing in the workplace

09 October 2020

Like many organisations, this year has given us the opportunity to review how we support mental wellbeing in the workplace. As we entered the early days of the pandemic, we were able to quickly spring into action, looking at ways in which we could support colleagues in the short-term, and also prepare for the medium to longer term needs that we’re now starting to realise are required.

Colleagues have access to a 24-hour, seven days a week, 365 days per year support service, and nearly 180 managers have undergone accredited Mental Health Awareness training to equip them to have supportive conversations and signpost their team members to support services in place. We also have 34 trained Mental Health First Aiders between our UK and APAC region, with a further 24 volunteers due to be accredited by December.

To keep the conversation going, and to continue to learn as well as share, we are delighted to join global mental wellbeing in the workplace organisation – This Can Happen – as a Friend. Forging partnerships is an important part of our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – in particular to the goal Good Health and Wellbeing.

This Can Happen friendship will enable us to connect with like-minded organisations across the world, taking part in round-table events, webinars and attending their global conference. Colleagues will also benefit from being able to join live or on-demand webinars on a range of topics that can affect our mental wellbeing.

We’re encouraging colleagues to get involved, talk about mental wellbeing and also ensure they know it is okay to not be okay. And with more being planned, we’re firmly establishing a strong network of support to promote mental wellbeing among colleagues.
