News reaction: UK Government publishes Wireless Infrastructure Strategy 

Yesterday, the UK Government published its Wireless Infrastructure Strategy outlining plans for putting wireless connectivity at the heart of new and existing infrastructure, with a focus on combatting cyber security challenges facing the telecoms industry by making all networks secure and resilient.

Wireless technology has transformed the way in which we communicate on a global scale. With the widespread adoption of 5G, and 6G on the horizon, it shows no signs of slowing down. In order to build infrastructure fit for this digital age, there are challenges that need addressing, including ensuring security and resilience in an increasingly connected society.

The strategy, developed by the UK Government through close engagement with industry and local bodies across the country, builds on the world-leading Telecoms Security Act 2021 and other steps taken over the last five years to strengthen the security of our networks and diversify supply chains.

It also reflects a number of themes from NCC Group’s response to the UK Government’s call for evidence on making wireless infrastructure safer and more secure, with our input helping to shape the Strategy. NCC Group is particularly pleased to see the Government take steps to plug regulatory gaps in areas such as private networks and AI, while also commit to working with global partners to secure the UK and international networks.
