Three years in, the NCSC continues to make the UK a safer and more secure place to live

23 October 2019

The UK government’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has released its third annual report which celebrates the successes and milestones reached since its inception.

From boosting cyber security awareness amongst the public and connecting with more businesses than ever, to developing an incredible pool of talent and producing the tools that secure our society, the NCSC has ensured that we are in a great position to stand strong against our adversaries.

As a result of this, the NCSC has been able to defend the UK against more than 600 cyber attacks in the past year, bringing the total number to almost 1,800 since 2016.

The NCSC’s vision aligns neatly with our own mission as we work to make the world safer and more secure. We’re proud to have partnered with the NCSC over the last three years on a range of initiatives, and we look forward to lending our support to further develop the robust technologies, talent and defences that it has implemented to make the UK the safest place to live and work.

Ollie Whitehouse, global CTO at NCC Group commented: “Year-on-year, we are seeing increased awareness of the measures that businesses and individuals can put in place to deal with evolving cyber threats. The NCSC has played a pivotal role in this through initiatives that increase knowledge amongst businesses and individuals, such as the CyberFirst programme and cyber surgeries.

“While there is much to celebrate, there is still scope to build on the NCSC’s pioneering work over the last three years. More than ever, we should be encouraging greater collaboration between government, industry and consumers.

“This collaboration will become even more vital as we move towards an evidence-based approach to security. Over the next 12 months, we need to ensure that this is adopted by the global cyber security industry to ensure the continued efficacy of defensive security measures.”
